5 Simple Ways to Get Back Into Exercise This September
Back to Routine: 5 Simple Ways To Get Back Into Exercise This September
Summer can be brilliant for holidays, days out and a change of pace – but it can also send our usual routines completely off track. If exercise has slipped down your priority list over the last few weeks, September is a great opportunity to reset. And getting back into exercise doesn’t mean you need an ambitious new training plan or hours of spare time.
Start small. Find something you enjoy. Build from there.
Here are five simple ways to get back into your fitness routine this September.

1. Start with one visit
Don’t worry about planning your entire month. Start with one visit this week.
That could be a 30-minute gym session, a swim or your favourite group exercise class. Getting through the door is the important bit.
Once you’ve made that first visit, planning the next one suddenly feels a lot easier

2. Put it in the diary
It’s easier to tell yourself you’ll exercise when you have time. Take a look at your week and choose a day and time that realistically works for you. Maybe that’s straight after the school run, before work, during your lunch break or on the way home.
Treat it like any other appointment and make it part of your week.

3. Find something you actually enjoy
Getting active doesn’t have to mean doing the same workout every time. At Volair, there are plenty of ways to move.
You could head into the gym, go for a swim, book onto a group fitness class, or mix things up throughout the week. If you’ve fallen out of love with your old routine, try something new.
The best exercise routine isn’t necessarily the toughest one – it’s the one you’ll want to come back to.

4. Remember: 30 minutes counts
Short on time? Don’t let that stop you.
You don’t need to spend hours exercising for a visit to be worthwhile. A quick gym session, a few lengths of the pool or a 30-minute class can fit much more easily around a busy week. Instead of thinking “I haven’t got enough time for a proper workout,” ask yourself:
“What can I fit in today?”
Something is better than nothing – and those shorter sessions can soon become part of your normal routine again.

5. Build your routine gradually
Once you’ve made that first visit, build from there.
One session this week might become two next week. After a few weeks, those sessions you’ve been putting in the diary can start to feel like a normal part of your rounine again.
Don’t worry if you miss a session or have a busy week either. Consistency doesn’t mean being perfect.
