Volair Halewood Refurbishment Project

We’re excited to share that Volair Halewood is about to enter the next phase of our refurbishment project and will begin redesigning our swimming pool facilities.

What’s Being Improved?

When the pool reopens, you can look forward to an incredible new swimming experience, featuring:

• Fully refurbished changing rooms
• Refurbished toilets
• Upgraded poolside showers
• New poolside tiling
• Modern lighting throughout the pool area

10 August 2026

To complete these upgrades safely and efficiently, the swimming pool will be closed from Monday, 10 August 2026, for about 10 weeks. Don’t worry—the rest of the club will stay open throughout the refurbishment, and we’ll do everything we can to minimise disruption.

21 September 2026

Exciting upgrades are coming to Volair Halewood Leisure Centre! Work on significant external enhancements will begin on Monday, 21 September.

The external improvements will feature:

• Three multi-use games areas (MUGAs) offering adaptable spaces for football, basketball, and a variety of community sports and recreational activities.
• New floodlighting installations to support increased use of the facilities during evenings and throughout the winter months, helping to maximise opportunities for sport and physical activity
• Enhanced CCTV coverage to boost site security, create a safer environment for visitors, and protect these new investments.
• Lighting upgrades to improve visibility and accessibility, ensuring a welcoming experience for everyone.
• Improved landscaping and public realm works, including new planting, enhanced green spaces and improvements to the appearance of the leisure centre surroundings
• Expanded car parking to accommodate growing demand and improve access for all visitors attending activities and events.
• Accessibility upgrades throughout the site to make it easier to navigate and to foster a more inclusive, welcoming environment for all.
• Significant investment in community sports infrastructure, designed to boost participation, empower local clubs, and deliver top-tier facilities for residents of all ages.
• A brand-new off-road public cycleway will link the East of Halewood development with the town centre, providing a safer, more accessible route for cyclists and pedestrians. This initiative will boost local connectivity, promote active travel, and enable residents to reach essential services and amenities more sustainably.

All improvements are anticipated to be completed within approximately 12 months.
