We are delighted to announce that the green energy transformation at Volair Kirkby is now complete. Scottish Power have now fully completed the installation of a new substation, as a result we are now using 11 air source heat pumps and 758 roof-mounted solar panels. The system can generate 290MWH per annum and it is anticipated the system will save 450 tons of CO2.
As you know the club has remained open during the works with some temporary closure to the pool only for a few weeks which re-opened 2nd May. The finalised works which harness the full power capacity now allow us to provide hot water and heating throughout the club, with showers back to their usual temperatures.
